A bike fair is being held Saturday in San Jacinto to promote the benefits of biking and sustainability and to teach children responsibility and safety.
The San Jacinto Valley Bike Fair, sponsored by the Green Coalition of San Jacinto, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Estudillo Mansion, 150 S. Dillon Ave. Attendees can bring their bikes.
Activities at the fair will include a free bicycle safety obstacle course for elementary and preschool kids, helmet fittings, bike safety checks and a free bike raffle.Free helmets will be given away to kids and individuals who complete and pass the safety course. Advance signup is required to get a helmet. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18.
Another main attraction will be a High Action BMX bike stunt show. "The Compound" BMX riders from Lake Perris will perform throughout the day. The U.S. Army will provide a rock-climbing wall.
Proceeds from the fair will be use to buy and install public bike racks.

The goal of the Green Coalition is to turn the San Jacinto Valley into a bicycle-friendly community. With its flat terrain and mountain views, members say there is no better place for a bike community.
