Background
The Green Coalition is working to raise awareness of bicycling in the San Jacinto Valley. There is no better place to ride the bike than in the valley where the terrain is flat and have scenic views to help family cyclists enjoy their ride.
The goals of the Green Coalition Bicycle Program are to:
-
Facilitate bicycling as a viable transportation choice;
-
Increase the amount of bicycle commuting.
-
Provide access to healthful recreational activities; and
-
Link major destinations like, schools, churches, stores, work places and recreation with Hemet and San Jacinto neighborhoods.
-
Turn the San Jacinto Valley into a bicycle town/community
The San Jacinto Valley Bike trails are one of the infrastructure assets of the Valley. Bike lanes and bike routes are already installed in the cities of Hemet and San Jacinto. In an effort to raise awareness and promote cycling in our community, the Green Coalition has been working with cities on:
-
Identifying designated Cycling Routes throughout our community
-
Refurbishing existing Bicycle trails
-
Designating Safe ride-to-school routes for children
-
Provide bicycle safety training for children
-
Including bike trails in general plans and land development
